Discussion Questions

Start Talking

  • How often do you consciously give thanks to God for the blessings in your life?

    • How does this impact your daily life and mindset?

  • Think about the last time you felt truly grateful.

    • Who or what were you thankful for, and how did you express that gratitude?

  • Who are the "unsung heroes" behind the scenes who support you in ways you might not always notice?

Read This

  • Read Luke 17: 10-19

    • Take a moment to imagine what life was like for the lepers in this story. How did being healed change their life?

    • How does the leper’s return to thank Jesus challenge you in your own expression of gratitude?

    • In what ways can gratitude impact your relationships with others, especially those who might not be expecting it?

    • How might showing more gratitude in your life (to both God and others) help you become more spiritually mature?

What Now

  • If we asked the people closest to you (family, friends, coworkers), would they describe you as a grateful person?

    • Why or why not?

  • Who in your life do you often take for granted?

    • What specific actions or contributions have they made to your life that you can recognize today?

  • What is a meaningful way you could show your appreciation to someone in your life?

    • Would it be through a public acknowledgment, a handwritten note, or a small gift?

  • What might be preventing you from expressing gratitude?

    • Are there past hurts or pride that hinder your ability to thank someone?

  • Do you find yourself too busy to stop and appreciate the efforts of others?

    • How can you slow down and notice the things others do for you?

  • How do you think expressing gratitude—especially to those who might not expect it—can serve as a witness to God’s goodness in your life?

  • What impact might widespread expressions of gratitude in your community or church have on the hearts of others, potentially leading them to recognize the goodness of God?

  • The church has provided thank you cards to help members express gratitude. How could you use this initiative in your own life to make a difference?

We want to ask you to be a church that blesses our city in such a way that makes them want to give thanks to God as well.
