In this third story, what is lost?
How did the father react when his son came back?
Culturally this was shocking. Men didn’t run, that brought shame upon them to lift up their tunics and run. Prodigals were not accepted back. They had to sit at the gate and ask the elders to approach their father for them. Even then, they were treated as servants, not sons.
Knowing the cultural ramifications of the father’s actions, how does that impact your thoughts about this story?
How does that impact your understanding of how God runs after you when you are lost?

Share a time when you felt distant from God but you felt Him pursuing you. How did you know He was pursuing you?
What questions or beliefs do you have that make you doubt that God misses you and is searching for you?
Is there a person in your life now that you feel is running from God? How can we pray with you and for that person?
We don’t have to spend our lives searching for God! God is actually searching for us!
