Start Talking 

  • Has this series made you think about the world differently than you have in the past?

    • In what way/s?

Read This

  • Read Ephesians 6:10-20

    • How does the imagery of a spiritual battle and suiting up in armor make you feel?

    • Does that imagery seem like it is going overboard or is it very sobering to you?

  • Re-read verse 11

    • What does this verse say that you need to stand against?

    • What are some of the devil’s strategies or schemes that you recognize in the world around you?

  • Re-read verse 12

    • Who/what is our battle against?

    • Who/what are we not battling against?

    • Do you tend to see your battles as against people or against spiritual forces?

  • Verse 11 and 13 tell us what we need to do to win this battle. What does it say?

What Now

  • Let’s review each piece of armor and how we can put it on.

    • Helmet of Salvation

      • Are you a follower of Jesus? 

      • Take some time to thank God for your salvation through Jesus and remind yourself that you are on God’s team.

    • Body Armor of God’s Righteousness

      • Remind yourself of your identity in Christ. What part/s of your identity in Christ do you struggle with?

      • How can we as a group encourage you to live out your Christ-given identity of righteousness?

    • Shoes of the Good News of Peace

      • How can you carry the Good News into your world?

      • Who can you invite to come to church with you next week who needs to know this Good News?

    • Belt of Truth

      • What are you doing to fill your mind and heart with God’s truth?

    • Sword of the Spirit- The Word of God

      • Our only weapon is God’s Word. Are you making it a priority in your life?

      • How can we as a group help you learn scripture?

    • Shield of Faith

      • The shield is our protection which is why the enemy constantly attacks our faith. What are some choices you can make to grow your faith?

    • PRAY

      • At the end of this passage, Paul reminds us to pray. He says in every occasion pray. What can we pray for you today? 


"God, today I will fight Your enemy with Your weapons. So I put on the helmet of salvation, please guard my mind. I put on the breastplate of righteousness, please guard my heart. I put on the belt of truth, please help me walk in truth. I put the gospel on my feet, please help me carry the good news to others. I take up the shield of faith, to extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one. I take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And I pray in the Spirit at all times.”
