Discussion Questions

Start Talking

  • Have you ever wrestled with the thought, “Why do I keep doing the things I don’t want to do?”?

  • What are some of the internal battles that you face? What are your competing desires?

  • How would it impact your life if you saw things the way Jesus did?

  • What is your source of truth? What or who do you read, watch, listen to that informs the way you think about things? (Parents, Friends, News, etc.)

Read This

  • Read John 14:6

    • Does Jesus’ bold statement in this verse make you think?

    • Do you believe His statement?

    • “I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: ‘I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept His claim to be God.’ That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic–on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg–or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse…. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come up with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”  - C.S. Lewis

  • Read John 17:17

    • Do you believe God’s Word is the truth?

    • What struggles do you have in believing that what the Bible says is true?

What Now

  • Some questions to think about today and throughout this series:

    • Why is there evil in our world?

    • Is the spiritual realm real?

    • Is Scripture a reliable source on this?

  • How can we as a group pray for you as you wrestle with what Jesus had to say about himself and the truth of God’s Word?

I believe God could open your eyes to an entirely new way of viewing the world around you & the desires inside of you. And I think this could completely change your life. I believe it could change your whole family.
