Find Peace In Conflict

You can have peace ABOUT the relationship without having peace IN the relationship.

Discussion Questions

Start Talking

  • Tell about a relationship in the past that there wasn’t peace in initially but then you were finally able to come to peace with each other.

  • Tell about a relationship in the past that there wasn’t peace in- even after trying.

    • Did you end up having peace about the relationship even though there wasn’t peace in the relationship?

    • Is that relationship still a source of conflict in your life?

  • Do you have any relationships in your life now (family, friends, co-workers, etc.) that you need peace in?

Read This

  • Read Romans 12:18

    • What is this verse telling us to do?

    • Does this verse say that is always possible?

    • Is it totally in your control to live at peace with everyone?

    • What part is under your control?

  • Read Romans 12:21

    • How does this verse say we should overcome evil?

What Now

  • Is your initial response to someone you are in conflict with to seek revenge or to seek peace?

  • Is your initial response to someone you are in conflict with to show that you are right or to find a way to reconcile?

  • What relationship do you need to do more (apologize, forgive, give them a chance) to live at peace with them?

  • How much time do you spend focusing on “them” instead of focusing on you and your responses?

  • What have you already done to bring peace to the relationship?

  • What steps do you need to take to have peace about the relationship even if there isn’t peace in the relationship?

  • What boundaries do you need to set so that you can have peace about the relationship?

  • How can we as a group pray for you this Christmas season as you navigate these relationships?

Your response to offense ultimately determines your peace.
