Digital Fast: Part 4- Delight

We’ve been so sedated by distraction, we’ve forgotten how to delight.

Discussion Questions

Start Talking

  • What’s a recent moment when you felt deep joy or delight?
    • What made it special?
  • How has technology shaped your sense of joy or delight—positively or negatively?
  • The sermon mentioned that many of us are not addicted to sin, but to stimulation. Does this resonate with you?
    • In what ways do you see this in your own life?
  • Have you ever felt numb or restless due to distractions like social media or entertainment?
    • What did that look like for you?

Read This

  • Read Psalm 37
    • Psalm 37 warns against fretfulness and envy (v.1). How have you seen comparison or worry steal your joy?
    • Verse 4 says, "Take delight in the Lord." What does it mean to truly delight in God?
      • How is this different from simply obeying Him?
    • Stillness is described as the soil where delight grows (v.7). How do you personally feel about stillness?
      • Is it easy or difficult for you to practice?
  • Read Zephaniah 3:17
    • How does knowing this change your view of God and your relationship with Him?

What Now

  • What have you noticed during the Digital Fast that has brought you more joy or awareness of God?
  • The sermon encouraged us to take inventory of “old delights.” What’s something that used to bring you joy that you’ve lost sight of?
    • How might God be inviting you back into it?
  • What are some practical rhythms you want to continue after the fast to guard your sense of delight?
  • How can we help each other move from duty to delight in our faith?
  • Do you feel it is a duty or delight to invite someone to join you at church?
    • How can we pray for you as you prepare to invite someone to church this Easter?

God isn’t honored by duty alone. He’s honored when your duty becomes delight.
