Discussion Questions


Start Talking 

  • How would you explain the difference between ‘being guilty” and “feeling guilty”?

  • What are some words you associate with feeling guilty?

  • What would you say is the difference between guilt and shame?

Read This

  • Read Psalm 51:1-4

    • In verse one, David asks for mercy from God based on what?

    • In verses two and three, whose sin is David asking forgiveness for?

    • In verse four, does David say that God is just or unjust in His judgment of David?

  • Read Psalm 32:3-5

    • Verses three and four describe how David felt under the weight of his sin, what words does he use to describe it?

    • What does David do in verse five? 

    • What was God’s response?

What Now

  • How do you tend to react when you feel guilty about something?

    • Do you tend to justify and show that you are not guilty?

    • Do you tend to get angry and blame others?

    • Do you tend to be covered up in shame and try to hide it?

    • Do you deal with it head on and ask for forgiveness?

  • Do you have a hard time admitting when you are wrong or have done wrong?

  • When was the last time that you had to ask for someone’s forgiveness?

    • Was that easy or hard for you?

  • What steps do you need to take to be more Honest to God about areas in your life where you need forgiveness?

  • How can we as a group pray for you and support you so you can grow in this area?


When you come clean, you’ll feel clean.

God already knows it. God has already forgiven it.
