Until I’m fully honest to God about who I am and how I feel, I’ll never fully grasp who he is and how he feels.

Start Talking 

  • What makes you doubt God in your life?

    • Experiences you have had, your inability to see or hear God, injustice in the world, etc.

  • Do you feel like your doubt creates a barrier between you and God?

  • Do you believe that you can have faith but also hold some doubts?

  • Read Psalm 13:1-2

    • What is the repeated question in these two verses?

    • What are the specific things that David is asking “how long” about?

  • Read Psalm 13:3-4

    • What is David asking God to do in verse 3? 

    • In verse 4, what does David say will be the result if God doesn’t answer him?

  • Read Psalm 13:5-6

    • What shift do we see happening in David in these verses?

    • What does David remind himself about God?

    • What is now David’s response to God?

  • Is God afraid of your questions and doubts?

  • What questions do you have for God right now?

    • How can we encourage each other in the midst of our questions?

  • What doubts do you have about God?

    • How can we help you navigate those doubts and help you be honest with God about your doubts?

  • What has God done for you in your life? 

    • How can you focus on what God has done in a way that helps your trust what He is doing?

  • How can praising God and recognizing what He has done in your life help you refocus on Him instead of your questions and doubts?


Honesty to God creates a relationship strong enough to bear the weight of doubt.
