About Sarah
Restoration Waters offers an integrative approach to counseling. It is important to look at what you are struggling with from a holistic perspective, considering how your mind, body and spirit all interact. The pace of life can be fast, causing us to ignore ongoing issues, be out of tune with our body and environment and lead to further issues with overall health. I love helping you look for ways to integrate small changes into your routine that can have big impacts on your day to day feelings and functioning. Learning to do breath work, yoga and meditation can improve symptoms of anxiety. Discussing how sleep routine, diet and exercise play a role in your day to day life, and can lead to depression if not addressed is a great way of working on improved physical health. Learning the importance of community, connecting to groups and people as a way of improving your felt support can have a huge impact on your life.
I really enjoy using a variety or therapies as well, because we are all different and how we communicate about our feelings and past can be adjusted for everyone. Using new experiences with experiential therapy is a great way to unlearn harmful behaviors and thoughts, and it can help build self esteem. Play therapy and Sandtray therapy are fun for kids and adults. We all benefit from creativity, curiosity and play. Biblio therapy is a fantastic way of being able to do work outside of therapy, sitting with it and then talking about what you read or learned. Children’s books offer a great way to talk about big issues as well. I love a good children’s book! I never underestimate the power of a rocking chair outside or a nature walk. The simple things that we loose sight of in the business of life are sometimes the keys to helping us reset our thoughts and emotions when they feel out of control.
I value authenticity and being real. We are all humans doing life which means we all have mess ups and get it wrong sometimes. It is important to be honest, have clear boundaries and as transparent as possible. Integrity matters and I will do my best to uphold that in our work together. I strive to approach our work together with humility, kindness and realness. I value diversity and equity, and believe that the unique differences, beliefs, values, background and stories you bring should be honored and celebrated.
My hope is that as you begin your journey with me, you will feel a safe and sacred space to share what you need to when you need to. Therapy is challenging, has ups and downs and can feel really hard; and it can be healing, restoring and bring hope. My question for you is, do you want to get well? Restoration Waters can be just the place you need to begin your journey to wellness.
