Athens Church is about a 10 minute drive from the University of Georgia and other local campuses, and our college ministry exists to be a home away from home for students. Here are 6 specific ways you can get involved at church this semester:

College Nights

During the school year, Athens Church hosts monthly gatherings on Tuesday nights exclusively for college students. These College Nights feature hang out time, worship, and teaching from the Bible, and are incredible opportunities not only for Athens Church students to meet one another and have some fun, but also to invite friends who’ve never experienced the church before. The College Nights Fall Kickoff is Tuesday, August 25, but until then, click here to check out the highlights from a recent College Nights gathering.

College Community Groups

We offer small groups for college students based on gender and class. In a college community group, students meet weekly with about 10 other guys or girls in the home of an adult leader from the church, with the goal of both growing spiritually and experiencing community. Online registration for fall 2020 college community groups opens August 16.

Volunteering on Sundays

We invite all college students to not just attend, but volunteer at Athens Church as well. On these strategic service teams, students are able to make friends and use their leadership gifts to serve others. Teams include guest services, production, and children’s environments preK through high school.

global(x) Mission Trips

Each spring break, we give students the opportunity to use their spring break to serve internationally on a global(x) mission trip. This is a great opportunity for students to meet new people, grow in their faith, and serve others. We take trips each spring break to Nicaragua, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic to serve our ministry partners there. Applications are currently closed, but check back soon for information about 2021 global(x) trips!

LDP Program

The Leadership Development Program is a leadership journey that combines hands-on ministry experience with practical leadership training. Each school year, we hire about a dozen LDP college staff to be a part of our team, and they work approximately 20 hours a week. This is an advanced, engaged internship program with considerable responsibility. LDP applications open in October for the 2021-2022 school year.

Sunday Morning Services

Join us at 9:15 or 11:00 for our Sunday morning church services. Services last about one hour, and it’s a great opportunity to not only meet other college students but also worship and serve alongside Athens area families. Each week, we have a special Lyft code to help students without transportation get to Athens Church. Be sure to follow @athenschurchcollege on Saturdays for a unique code each week!
