Most of you can relate to the reality of failure in some way. And often that reality travels through life with us. Lots of failures can be laughed off or ignored, but when you have dreams and ambitions that aren’t realized, when you’ve made decisions that negatively impacted yourself and those closest to you, you can begin to see yourself in an unhealthy way.

  • What has been your biggest failure in life?
  • What causes you to feel like a failure?
  • What lies have you believed that made you feel like you were a failure?
  • Have you ever allowed your failure to define you?
  • Have you ever felt disqualified by your failure? 
  • Have you ever felt like your failure was final? (I will never….. because of my failure.)

Read This

  • Read Ephesians 2:8-10: 
    • What stands out to you?
    • How does recognizing that your salvation is a gift from God- not through your own works- help you deal with your failures?
    • How does knowing that God created you to do good works help you understand your value despite any failures in your life?
  • Read 2 Corinthians 11:24-30:
    • Have you ever felt like you have encountered one failure after another and you will never reach the goal?
    • Does reading Paul’s words in this passage encourage you? How?
    • Do you believe that you are uniquely qualified to fulfill God’s purpose for your life?
  • Read Romans 8:28:
    • How many times have you thought, “I will never ______. I blew my only shot.”?
    • Is it hard for you to believe that God is working ALL things for your good? Why or why not?

What Now

  • How can you take the failures you have had in your life and grow from them? How can we as a group help you?
  • What failures in your life do you need to see as a gift? How can we help you see the gift in that failure?
  • Are there any failures that you are still holding on to that you need to release today?

I am God’s masterpiece.

I am uniquely qualified to fulfill God’s purpose for my life.
