We all love movies. From superheroes to childhood classics, there’s something about movies that capture our imagination and make us feel “all the feels.” And when you experience that with other people… it’s even better! That’s why, this summer, we’re inviting you to At The Movies. Each Sunday we’ll focus on a different movie to see how they offer opportunities to engage with the life-changing love of Jesus.

Start Talking

  • What genre of movie are you drawn to most? Action, Rom Com, Horror, Epic Series, Documentary
  • When was the last time you saw a movie in a theatre (remember those), and what was it?
  • As our world comes out of “lockdown”, how have you seen an appetite for “more” in you or those around you?
  • In the Jurassic move we see that “no one is impressed by dinosaurs” anymore. Which is wild! Dinosaurs are impressive! How do you see these same trends in our culture (not easily impressed)? What about in the church?

Read This

  • Read  Ephesians 2:1-7
    • What stands out to you?
    • In what ways can you relate to the church of Ephesus?
  • What do you think spiritually “dead” means?
  • If you had to explain to someone why Jesus had to die, how would you explain it to them?
  • Did you know that God encourages us to try to remember what He has done for us? He knows we are forgetful, and that we will doubt how good and incredible He is. Read Joshua 4.
    • What stands out to you?
    • Why do you think God encouraged Joshua to have the people set up stones of remembrance?

What Now?

  • Try to remember: What are some things that God has done for you personally that feels miraculous?
  • What is something unexplainable that you have seen God do in someone else’s life?
  • What are some ways that you continue to practice being in awe of God?
  • Mark ended the talk asking people who they could invite to the rest of the series, who did you think of to invite?
