After receiving the book "Voices of the Faithful" by Beth Moore for Christmas, seeing the movie End of the Spear, and hearing Andy Stanley speak about Northpoint Missionaries, I realized that I needed to donate God's money to missionaries. After some research, I chose World Vision for its focus on physically and spiritually healing children all over the world. Not only did this exercise spark a financial donation, but I hope to participate in a mission trip myself now.

I made a donation to Child Evangelism Fellowship
Well, I really did not know what to do with the $5 I was to manage. At the service I began to pray and immediately God laid a name on my heart: Hattie. She is a young lady with INCREDIBLE faith that has struggled with money all her life. She does not complain, but TRUSTS that the Lord will provide- and He does. After church I was so pumped and at lunch I told my friends. A few minutes later Hattie walked into the restaurant!! It was so sweet to witness God work every detail out before my eyes and allow me to be a part of it!
Scripture instructs us in James 1:27 that "religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this to look after orphans and widows in their distress." We took our money and sent it with a card to an elderly widow in a community in Athens that lives next door to a polluting business. She has many environmental health problems and is always quick to thank the Lord for being so good to her. She recently had another surgery to remove another tumor on her neck.

I used the $5.00 as a symbolic foundation investment in a good friend's legal debt. We decided that although it is a small portion of the debt, it serves as God's foundation and promise to provide financial and spiritual aid for my friend, while we focus efforts on serving the Lord through this situation. We committed to pray constantly and commit the money/stress situation to God, rather than bear the burden alone.
Buying a ticket to the Indescribable tour for my friend who is not a believer...yet I have been talking to her and she seems interested in who christ was and what this whole Christianity thing is about. So I invited her down to the conference. She said she would go, but she is low on cash. When i called to get the tickets, the price of her ticket was the exact amount that I received in my envelope. I am so excited about her attending the conference next week!

I took a friend to lunch. She is questioning many of the same things that I have had questions about. So over lunch I shared with her the concept of Starting Point and many of the insights I gained through the discussions. I had also created a package of resources and materials I'd found as places to start in conversations with others to help her grow in her faith.

On a cold Wednesday night in mid-January, I was coming home from work when I stopped at Kroger to get a late night snack. While filling my cart, I met a frail, young man carrying to pot-pies and three dollars. To make a long story short, he was on the verge of being homeless and had not eaten for two days. I spent the next 1 1/2 hours teaching him to shop as me filled a cart with food. I multiplied this investment and he agreed he will one day pass this gift along to another. I explained that I was a recipient of God's blessings
I have a good friend who's a student here at UGA. His family recently moved from North Korea. His father is a pastor, and does not make a steady income. His mom is in jail back in North Korea. My friend is the strongest Christian I've ever met. He's a true inspiration. Anyway, I noticed on cold mornings that he doesn't seem to own a jacket. So I used my $5 to pay for shipping and added my own to buy him a warm winter coat. I can't wait to see his face when I give it to him! Thank you for giving me a new perspective on "my" possessions. God Bless!

My school, Prince Avenue Christian School, is building a new campus. The church and school decided that they did not want to take out a loan for any of the costs. The building is almost complete and there has not been a single debt yet(through God's mighty power!). There is only 1 million dollars left that is needed. There is a group that has agreed to double the money (up to 500,000) that is made to complete the building. So, I invested my money in God's Kingdom by giving it to my school for the completion of the building!
I took the money and added some and invested it in the Georgia Baptist Children's homes. My mother passed away recently and she was a foster child. She did not get the love and attention she needed as a child. I am praying that God will use this money to show these foster children (at a very early age) that although they don't know their biological parents, they have a Father in heaven who knows every hair on their head and loves them very much.
I am donating the money to Holt International Children's Services - an agency dedicated to placing orphaned children into permanent, adoptive homes around the world. This money in particular will be helping special needs children, those who are over 2 years old or have special health care needs that make them more difficult to place.
I have been praying daily over what to do with the $5 I received. I carried this money with me in the car, just in case God revealed to me what to do with it. I spent a large amount of time trying to do what God would have wanted with the money and I never felt like God was telling what to do with it. So, as a worldly person, I gave the $5 along with another $20 to the Oconee County Animal Shelter. I had recently read an article about some needs they had. If I had spent all of God's and my money as carefully as I did this $5, I would be a multimillionaire today!
We were eating at the Waffle House, and overheard a homeless man say that his hands were cold. The waitress said that he came in there everyday, so we gave her some money to buy him a pair of gloves and a hat. Then we invited him to join our small group, that Josh Jones leads.

I love to see the youth group back home reaching out to others in order to share the message of our Savior to others outside of our comfort zone.
I am adding to the money given in church and giving it to a young man who is struggling financially. I asked him to use a portion to get a ride to church. We have invited often to pick up but he hasn't taken it up yet or has had something planned. He has said he might like to come. So hoping he will get some of neighbor boys to bring him because he won't come with us. He also rents from me. I'm trying to encourage him to make right choices. Often, he makes many wrong ones.

A friend of mine and I are in a grad. program. We had our comprehensive exam and most of us had received packages from loved ones. She had not. I had told her previously about the $ and the message at church. So, I bought her flowers and told her this was the best investment $ ever got me. She loved them and in turn felt loved :)

I doubled the investment and privately deposited it into the account a friend who was called into Christian Ministry.
I gave the money along with some more and sent to the Smiles Foundation. They are building an orphanage in Romania. |
I am giving to my older brother who is going on staff with Campus Outreach Ministries in Greenville, SC for the next four years. Even though I'm not making money because I am a student, I've felt convicted to sacrifice a portion of my monthly allowance for the next 6 months to my brother's call into ministry and the money from Athens Church helped me start giving to him this month.
Our family used the money to help orphans in Ukraine. We gathered up coats and sweaters that we can no longer wear. We each added some of our own money to the amount in the envelope. In just moments, God took a five dollar bill and multiplied it into 40 pounds of winter clothing and enough money to pay for shipping!!
I used the 5 dollars toward a $300 personal goal to give to Campus Crusade For Christ at the end of March.
I am giving it to a Wesley intern who has been struggling financially. He disciples me. I felt that for God, it was the only thing besides prayer that might encourage him.
I took the five dollars I received and bundled it with thirty five other dollars to make a forty dollar gift for my babysitter to use in her youth ministry work. She mentors a group of girls at her Baptist church. I told her to take the money and spend it doing something for those girls.
My wife and I added God's money to our gift for a cousin who is going on a mission trip with Campus Christian Fellowship.

I am donating the $10.00 at a benefit concert for St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
I took one of my friends from my hall to Starbucks and shared the gospel with him. He is a philosophy lover and really unsure about a lot of things so it was good for me to establish a relationship with him where we are open to talk about spiritual stuff.
A friend recently told us about a couple who was in need. The husband is a policeman and the wife is a stay-at-home mom with 3 kids. He recently injured himself and underwent knee surgery. He will be out of work for 6 months and there is no other source of income. As a couple we put our money together (plus extra) to help this family at this rough time.
Sowing the five dollars, plus some, in a young Christian man that has been called to preach. His current financial situation is discouraging at the present time. It is my prayer that this opportunity will have a rippling effect for all eternity. Many thanks for this wonderful opportunity.
I was approached by a man who desperately needed $4.60 to help him pay for an emergency repair on his car. When I gave him the $5 he asked me how he could repay his debt and I replied, "By giving to someone else in need."
I am giving the money at my church, First Baptist Woodstock, on Sun. 1/22 p.m. They were taking up an offering for Church on the Street (ministers to downtown Atlanta homeless) for clothes and blankets. I was visiting with my sister when the money was distributed.
As a faithful money manager, I invested the $5.00 I received (along with a few others) to purchase a book for someone I come across through my work. The book is "Just Enough Light For the Step I'm On" by Stormie O'Martian. It is about trusting God in the tough times. This book was introduced to me as I was entering a very tough time and it helped me stay focused and gave me strength and peace. I pray that this book will not only encourage this person I am giving it to, but will help her draw near to God, receive His mercy and grace, and let the Redeemer restore to her what she has lost.
After five days of prayer God brought Anthony to my door on this past Thursday. He was asking if we had any work for him so that he could get money for food. I did not have work for him but I let him know that God was using Athens Church to provide for him. God will multiply this five dollars and his kingdom will grow.

I am sending the money I received (as well as some money I added) today to the Wounded Warrior Project to be used to purchase a backpack for a wounded soldier. Visiting the website (just type in wounded warrior project) gives in detail the items provided in this backpack. I encourage others who may not know about this and who are interested to check it out. This activity was very powerful for me and I definitely took it seriously. I did some research and confirmed with a young soldier stationed in Iraq that when a soldier is injured, the injured person is usually transported with nothing, and that it takes a long time for any personal items to arrive. In discussing this with others, I have found that many of us have never realized that the soldier doesn't have anything when he or she arrives at the hospital. As a mother who has a son embarking on a military career, I will continue to share this information so others will have the opportunity to understand a little more and consider giving to this worthwhile cause. I also enclosed a thank you note which will be attached to the backpack which included the Athens Church website and the following scripture from Isaiah 40:31.."But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall=. mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
As a faithful manager, I invested in God's Kingdom by donating to Habitat for Humanity. The money was used to buy roof shingles and will be used where it is needed most. I chose Habitat for Humanity because I have had experience with their organization first hand, and I think it is incredibly inspiring and humbling to see what they can accomplish through God.
I am putting my money towards the child I have supported for the last year and a half. The money I have supported him with goes to buying him his school uniforms, and some of the basic things his family needs. Every time I think to myself about how the money I give to compassion goes to teaching my child about the love of Jesus Christ. I believe that if I show love and compassion that he will soon realize that our Father in Heaven feel the same love and compassion for each and every one of us. Thanks for the chance to invest in the Kingdom of our wonderful God!!!!!!!!
I am combining the church donation and some of my own to benefit Project Safe
I gave it to the International Mission Board for translating bibles

I am giving it to my best friend from home. She is investigating Christianity and her family is going through divorce and bankruptcy. I told her about the message, asked her to put the money where she could see it for a while then could use it. (also threw in some extra) She's been saying for a while she needs money so badly, so I'm hoping she will see she needs God even more, because he will provide.
I am purchasing the book Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, for some good friends. I read the book and wanted to share it with someone, just recently I found some of my good friends were leaving for a month to travel and they wanted something to read, so it worked out almost perfectly in timing that I could buy this book for them to take with them.
